A washed Kenyan peaberry roasted light for filter. Jammy blackberry, fresh apple and caramel with sparkling acidity.

This one is for the black coffee drinkers. Built for pour over, batch brew, Aeropress or the Moccamaster on the bench. If you chase clean fruit and brightness in your morning cup, this is the lot to grab.

In the cup you get jammy blackberry, fresh apple and caramel, with tons of sparkling acidity and a clean fruit like sweetness. Light body, big clarity.

Drink it black. It will get lost in milk and that would be a waste of a peaberry like this.

Against the rest of our shelf this sits at the bright end. The Mount Buninyong Blend is your everyday safe bet. This is the one you brew slowly on a Sunday morning.

It is a microlot, selected on cup score from lots of fewer than 100 bags. Once it is gone it is gone.

PB stands for peaberry. Most coffee cherries grow two flat seeds. Sometimes a cherry grows just one small round bean, and those get sorted out as their own grade. Peaberries are prized for concentrating the character of the lot.

This coffee comes from the Wamuguma Coffee Factory in Gatundu, Kiambu County, part of the Ritho Farmers Cooperative Society, founded in 1972. Smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherry to the factory, where it is pulped, fermented, washed, soaked and dried slowly on raised tables. It is a blend of Batian, SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 varieties grown between 1600 and 1800 metres, harvested November to January. Kiambu sits on red volcanic soils in the highlands and is famous for some of the brightest cups in Kenya.

Best suited for: V60 and pour over, batch brew and filter machines, Aeropress, French press.

Brew guide to start with: 15g of coffee to 250g of water at 93C, about three minutes total brew time. Adjust the grind until it tastes sweet.

Roast level: light filter roast.

Roasted to order at our roastery in Ballarat. Local Ballarat delivery on Thursdays for orders placed before midnight Tuesday. Shipped daily Australia wide.
