Frequently asked questions
What is Orgánico?
Orgánico is roasted from certified organic beans from Colombia and Peru, both washed. A medium roast with a clean profile, balanced body and natural sweetness.
What does Orgánico taste like?
Dark chocolate leads, supported by a gentle citrus lift and subtle stone fruit. Clean, balanced and fuller bodied, structured from first sip to last.
Is Orgánico made from certified organic coffee?
Yes. Orgánico is roasted from certified organic beans grown in Colombia and Peru, both washed. The farms are certified, so no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers are used in growing them. We are not a certified organic processor ourselves, so we describe Orgánico as roasted from certified organic beans rather than as a certified organic product.
What roast level and strength is Orgánico?
Medium roast, and 8 out of 10 for strength on our own 1 to 10 scale.
How do I dial in Orgánico?
For a double espresso, 22g in and 44g out in 26 to 30 seconds at 93°C. That is a 1:2 brew ratio.
What machines does Orgánico suit?
It stays easy to dial in across home machines including Breville, Sunbeam, DeLonghi and Ninja, and it works well in automatic machines. Suited to espresso, milk based coffees and long blacks.
Can I get Orgánico ground, or is it whole bean?
Both. Choose whole bean, or ground for espresso, stovetop, Aeropress, filter and Moccamaster, or French press.
What sizes does Orgánico come in?
500g and 1kg.
Where does the coffee in Orgánico come from?
Colombia and Peru, both washed and both certified organic.
What is Orgánico best for?
Espresso, milk based coffees and long blacks. It stays easy to dial in on home machines and automatics, and the fuller body holds up well in milk.
How is Orgánico different from Mount Buninyong?
The main difference is the coffee behind it. Orgánico is roasted from certified organic beans from Colombia and Peru, a medium roast at 8 out of 10 on our own 1 to 10 scale, with dark chocolate, gentle citrus and stone fruit. Mount Buninyong is medium dark at 9, heavier and sweeter, with chocolate, caramel and toffee. If organic sourcing matters to you, go Orgánico. If you want the bolder, sweeter cup, go Mount Buninyong.
Why does Orgánico cost more than your other blends?
Certified organic green coffee costs more to buy than conventional. Organic farms carry the cost of certification and of growing without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and that cost flows through to the roasted price.
Is Orgánico available year round?
Yes. It is part of our core range and we roast to order, so it does not sell out.
Can I subscribe and save?
Yes. If this is your daily organic coffee, a subscription saves 10% on every bag. First time buyers who sign up to our email list save 15% off their first purchase.
Do you have retail store locations?
Yes. We sell direct to the public from the roastery at 5/10 Builders Close, Wendouree, behind the KOH Industries building. Open Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 8am to 4pm.
